LATE WORK
-work is due on the given due date
-if work is not handed in, student must come after school to work on the assignment with the teacher
-student is allowed to go home and retrieve the forgotten assignment and return it to the teacher before she goes home at the end of the day (4:30)
-if the work comes in before 4:30 the teacher will not take late marks off the final product
-if assignments are submitted late, a penalty of lost marks must be given
-if the student has a medical reason for late work and informs the teacher with a note from a parent, then exceptions can be made to accommodate this need
-students must learn to take responsibility for completing their assignments
PLAGIARISM:
-students who plagiarize by copying a piece of writing verbatim
with the intention to take and use as their own will be dealt with in the following manner: Parents will be notified and the student will receive a zero for that assignment.
To prevent plagiarism- students will hand write research notes into their own words and in point form.
-students will be expected to reference and cite information they use including pictures.
-students will be expected to show their rough drafts. They need to show evidence of attempts to change and improve their writing
EXTRA TEACHER HELP
-is available at lunch time and after school until 4:30 everyday
-there are some exceptions to this if teacher has meetings to attend, supervision assignments or personal appointments.
-teacher will conference with student, point out strengths and weaknesses of written work, give suggestions
-intensive editing needs to be done by the student, parents, peers, or other adults
CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS
-RESPECT FOR SELF, OTHERS, TEACHER, SCHOOL and ENVIRONMENT
MATERIALS REQUIRED
-a binder and loose leaf paper
-dividers to organize the binder into sections
- 5 dividers to organize the binder into sections (handouts, grammar/spelling, vocabulary, responses, work in progress)
-duotangs to be used for fast write responses and reading logs
-a thesaurus can be very helpful
- a large blank journal
- plastic sleeves
