Linear Equation Project

Guidelines:

1) You may complete as many of the activities listed below in order to reach 50 points.

2) You may choose any combination of activities.

Plan to Do / Activity to Complete / Point Value / Points Earned
Using at least two thinking Maps to show how to graph a linear equation. The Thinking Maps must illustrate how to graph the line using slope intercept form and how to get your equation to slope intercept form / 25
Create a word problem on a hand-out or poster board for the equation y = -3x + 15. Determine the slope, y-intercept, and illustrate how you would graph the equation. / 15
Create a word problem on a hand-out or poster board for the equation 6x + 8y = 24. Determine the slope, y-intercept, and illustrate how you graph the equation. / 15
Construct a test with at least 10 questions on linear equations. These questions need to cover slope, graphing linear equations, determining y-intercept, and solving at least 1 word problem. Your test can have at most 5 multiple choice questions. Create a separate test answer. / 50
Develop a youtube video that explains how to graph a linear equation given in slope-intercept form and what each piece of the equation represents. You may present the explanation in a song, a lesson, or an alternative method (you can check in with me on this). / 50
Illustrate how to solve the following word problem on a hand-out:
Suppose you have $30 to spend on bags of tootsie rolls that are worth $3 and bags of lolli-pops worth $5. If you have to use all of their money, what combinations of candy bags can they buy?
Construct a linear equation and find/explain the y-intercept and slope.
Finally, if you have $45 to spend on the candy, how would that impact everything? / 25
Create a set of 20 memory game cards that include 10 matches. A pair being a picture of a slope on a graph and the other being the slope written as the slope’s ratio. Ex/ and 2 or 1
2 1 / 25
“Two truths and lie” – come up with two facts about slopes, intercepts, or linear equations and one piece of information that is false about these topics / 5
Create vocabulary flashcards for slope, y-intercept, slope-intercept form, standard-form, and linear equation / 5
