Dear Coaches,
I hope you have had a great break and I am eager to host you and your teams in a little over a week. I wanted to pass along some updates and information for clarity. I have chosen bullet points over letter form to allow you to skim through and see the info you need, but if you have the time please read everything and PLEASE ASK questions if anything isn’t clear.

Entry/Drop Deadline:
·Judge entry will be open until the 9th of January.
·The drop deadline without penalty for students is January 5th.
Registration Details:
·Registration will be at the tournament hotel, The Renaissance Ft. Lauderdale/Plantation on Friday 1/12/18 between noon and 4pm in the Miami/Orlando room. Teams are welcome to pay by check before that date or to pay day of by cash or check.
·Teams with students in the Round Robin can register for both the Round Robin and the tournament on campus between 7-8am in the Don Taft Recreational Complex (first floor adjacent to the food court) on Friday 1/12
·For those who pay in advance and do NOT have any drops to report at registration they can check in and forgo registration by calling my cell phone on Friday between 12 and 4. 954-279-4540
University Policies:
·NSU is a NO smoking campus. Please ensure your judges observe this campus rule to ensure we will continue to be able to utilize the entire campus.
·We are NOT the only ones using the Desantis building for the weekend. There is another group using the atrium this weekend. Students and judges should keep down their volume in common areas and utilize the courtyard area outside the Desantis building that will be set up for students and judges to gather.
Parking:
·Parking will be available in the garage next to the Desantis Building and in the West Garage behind the Dauer Middle School. Please see the map below for details.
·Parking passes will be available at registration
Meals:
·As always, the Sunvitational prides itself on having topnotch hospitality for a tournament of this size. We will have food trucks available again this year. In addition to providing a well-stocked judge lounge and judge meals,we will also provide several student meals throughout the weekend.

PF:
1.If debaters aren’t at their round 15 minutes after postings it is considered a forfeit
2.Judges should wait to give RFD’s until after ballot is signed,
completed, and sent in
3.Once ballot is signed and completed judges can either slide ballot under the door or ask the ballot runner in the hall to collect the ballot
4.Flight B debaters should be waiting outside of flight A room ready to debate in case flight A debaters aren’t present.
5.Every PF round is a flip round (Even if teams hit in prelims). Before each round debaters should flip a coin with a judge present. The team that wins the flip may choose pro/con OR to speak 1st/2nd. The team that loses the flip has the choice of whatever the first team did not choose
6. Judges need to have their judging philosophies available on the judge wiki by Tuesday 1/9/18 in order for students to do strikes
