Proclaim liberty throughout all the land to all its inhabitants… (Lev. 25:10)

Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. (II Cor. 3:17)

Summer 2007

Dear Pastor,

On behalf of Public Awareness Ministries, we are committed to pray for you as one of the leaders in your community and be of service to you in the advancement of the Gospel. We are deeply interested in the issues that impact families and yourcongregation.

As we approach the 4th of July, hot dogs, fireworks, parades, patriotism, and liberty come to mind. In our service to pastors throughout California, may we suggest that the 4th of July, for Christians, offers an opportunity to focus on how the Gospel promotes liberty throughout the land, and how each of us can help advance liberty? The great Christian thinker, Noah Webster, said:

The religion that has introduced civil liberty is the religion of Christ and His apostles… No truth is more evident to my mind than that the Christian religion must be the basis of any government intended to secure the rights and privileges of a free people.[1]

As you know, America enjoys a Biblicalfoundation from which all of our freedom flows, including the liberty to share the Gospel. Our observation is: as we share the Gospel, disciple believers in God’s word, and pray for and select God-honoring leaders, liberty is advanced.[2]

On Sunday July 1, as we approach July 4, we are encouraging pastors to:

Invite your congregation to reflect on God’s gift of freedom to America, as the Pilgrims wrote in the Mayflower Compact, “for the glory of God, and advancement of the Christian faith…

Place the enclosed half-page insert, or its contents, into your church’s bulletin and encourage your congregation to ask God to preserve America’s Biblical foundation, which is the source of all freedom, including our ongoing liberty to freely share the Gospel.

It is our goal to preserve America’s Biblical foundation and the liberty it gives us to openly share the Gospel so that your church is never hindered in its efforts to evangelistic and discipleship efforts. It is our desire to pray for and serve you as you serve your congregation and community; we hope to have the opportunity to get to know you better. If you have questions or want more information, please call me at 916-853-9777. Thank you for the tremendous work you do in the name of the Lord!

In His (and your) service,

Mark Matta, Executive Director (volunteer)
