A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor of Antonio "Tee" Salinas II.

WHEREAS, Antonio "Tee" Salinas II is a 19-year-old senior at North Oldham High School in Goshen, Kentucky. As the manager for the Mustangs basketball team, he has diligently worked to provide water, laundry services, and various other comforts for the players over the past seven seasons; and

WHEREAS, Tee Salinas has been a source of inspiration for the players and the coaches at North Oldham, and he was voted by his classmates as "Most Likely to Brighten Your Day." He is beloved by every member of the Mustangs community, and during the 2013/2014 season the players wanted to reward Tee for all he had done for them; and

WHEREAS, on February 21, 2014, in a game against DeSales High School, Tee Salinas was a member of the starting five for the Mustangs. The plan was spearheaded by North Oldham students using a Twitter campaign with the hashtag "GETTEEONSPORTSCENTER," and the local media picked up on the story. Players, coaches, and parents made media appearances in the days leading up to the game, and celebrities such as Dick Vitale made references to it on social media. Tee even requested a "white out" so that all the students attending would be dressed in white, creating a scene that everyone who played in or attended the game would always remember; and

WHEREAS, Tee Salinas was introduced as a starter, and the introduction was met with deafening applause. When he scored the first basket of the game, the students rushed the court, and play was stopped for ten minutes. The media campaign was a success, as Tee's performance made it on ESPN's SportsCenter, and Tee's incredible story rightfully reached a national audience; and

WHEREAS, Tee Salinas received his nickname from his father's love of golf. An avid golfer himself, he will represent Kentucky in the Special Olympics Golf Championship later this year; and

WHEREAS, this honorable body commends such athletic achievements that go above and beyond the norm. Tee Salinas' starting role and his play against DeSales High School was one such performance, and for his extraordinary work ethic as the North Oldham High School manager, for his years of selfless dedication to the Mustangs basketball team and to its players, and for his generosity as a human being and his talent as a basketball player, he is rightfully honored by this body today;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The Senate hereby honors Antonio "Tee" Salinas II for his starting role and his performance against DeSales High School on February 21, 2014, and congratulates him on his unparalleled career as the student manager for the North Oldham High School Mustangs.

Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor of Antonio "Tee" Salinas II.

Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Jeff Klingeman, 1315 Old Taylor Trail, Goshen, Kentucky 40026.
