Twycross House School

MUSIC TEACHING OPPORTUNITIES

We’re currently reviewing our music provision in readiness for the next academic year. There will then be a vacancy for a full-time qualified and enthusiastic teacher in the pre-preparatory school (4-8 year olds). This vacancy will be due to the retirement of the current post-holder after many years of excellent and inspirational teaching

We also intend to develop music in the main school, increasing the number of students taking music at GCSE and A level. This position would initially be part-time but there may be opportunities for the successful applicant to be involved in undertaking some instrumental teaching both in the pre-prep and in main school. We plan to significantly expand the programme of instrumental teaching and ensemble activities; expressions of interest from instrumental teachers are therefore also welcomed.

Last summer, the school was judged by Ofsted to be OUTSTANDING in all areas, and we’re seeking applicants who are passionate about music and who are able to inspire our children and young people to be involved in music-making to very high standards.

In the first instance, please write to us, telling us what you can offer. We would also be pleased to give you a tour of the school, and to show you our excellent facilities.

Mr S. D. Assinder (Headmaster), Twycross House School, Twycross, Atherstone, Warwickshire, CV9 3PL

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Please note that current or previous employers will be contacted as part of the verification process and that the successful applicant will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check. This school’s recruitment policy is in line with the requirements of the Equality Act 2010 and the DBS Code of Practice.

In addition to the candidates’ ability to perform the duties of the post, the interview will explore issues relating to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children: motivation to work with young people, ability to form appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with young people, emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours, and attitudes to the use of authority and maintaining discipline.
