Community Council President Anthony Notaro called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm.

Mr. Notaro introduced all of the elected officials present, Councilwoman, Margret Chin, downtown Alliance, Catherine mcVaey, former CB1 Chair.

Cop of the month were awarded, for both the 1st precinct and TD2. For the 1st precinct, the awards and honors were given to the crime prevention unit:

For Transit District 2, the awards were given to the following:

On June 21, 2016, TD2officer, Girolamo Seidita while assigned sector Adam with officer Andrew Lindsay quickly responded from TD command during roll call after a robbery in progress came over the radio at the Rector st subway station. Upon their arrival they met with he victim who stated that the perpetrator M/B/21 Taravon Little-Adam NYSID#02870704 forcefully remove her I-phone & wallet by dragging the victim across the platform floor. Officer Seidita quickly broadcasted Travon Litlle-Adams description over transit and division radio. The quick response and detail description let to a positive stop at the Ferry. Travon is career criminal with 24 priors, 6 for robbery and 1 GL. He is currently in jail waiting trial. Due to PO Seidita’s quick response and excellent detail description led to an arrest.

On July 1, 2016 TD2 officers Monica Chong & officer Michelle Scott while conducting a train patrol at the chamber st, station, heard via radio transmission of a cell phone snatch that occurred at canal st. The perpetrator Fernando Rodrigues, did snatch the cell phone from complainant’s hand and fled. A broadcasted description of the suspect was made and officers Chong & scoyy observed a suspect matching the description and approached him. When the suspect saw the officers he ran, the officers chased him to city hall station where the apprehended him. Because of the rapid actions of both officer Chong & Scott, they were able to quickly arrest an index criminal who is currently awaiting trail.

On August 8th, 2016 TD2 Officer Orquuide Genao and officer Michael Thomas apprehended perpetrator Ikell Randolph for slashing a female on west 35th & 8th ave with a razor. A witness regarding the slashing approached the officers; they saw the suspect leaving the scene and arrested him without further incident. A razor was recovered, and the suspects plead guilty. Great job by the two officers.

On September 1st, 2016 TD2 Officer Marcelo Binagi while at the chambers st subway arrested Brain Best , who was attempting to remove the headphones off a sleeping passenger. Best is a career criminal with over 18 priors. Due to Officer Binagi’s amazing vigilance the perpetrator was caught and prevented from victimizing other passengers.

On October 16th, 2016, TD2 officers, Jason Nandoo & Louis Derosa while a station inspection at the 14th street & 7th Ave station, heard the screaming of a distressed woman. The immediately found the victim and were told that her phone had been stolen. The victim explained there was an eyewitness observed the suspect remove the cellphone from inside her purse and ran away. Sgt Feliciano who also responded to the scene, didn’t believe the eyewitnesses, John Brown’s story. The officers called the victim’s cell phone and a ringing noise was heard coming from the eyewitness. The officers called several times with same result, finally the perpetrator admitted to having victims cell phone.

Well done and congratulations to our entire Cop of the months honoree’s. Council Chin also awarded all of the honored officers with citations.

First Precinct Report:

Crime statistics read are based on current 28 day period compared to the same 28 day period last year.

Overall crime decreased 5.6 %, with 117 crimes vs 124 for the 28-day period.

Rape: There was zero rape reported in the 28-day period, the same as last year.

Robberies for the week decreased, with zero compared to 2 for the 28 day period.

Felony assaults decreased, with 3 versus 9 for the 28-day period.

Burglaries for the 28-day period decreased slightly with 6 versus 8

Grand Larcenies increased to 101 versus 97

GLAs increased slightly for the 28-day period, with 3 grand larcenies compared to 2 in the last 28-day period.

Transit District 2 report:

Transit crime decreased by 36 % with 59 compared to 93 for the 28-day period.
