A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE APPRECIATION OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY FOR THE DEDICATED WORK OF MRS. FAYE S. YARBOROUGH, OF HARTSVILLE, IN DARLINGTON COUNTY, ON BEHALF OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES IN THE DARLINGTON COUNTY AREA AND THROUGHOUT THE STATE.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are pleased to learn of the distinguished service provided by Mrs. Faye S. Yarborough through her selfless acts to help those with disabilities in the State; and

Whereas, Mrs. Yarborough has dedicated her life to the service of people with disabilities in many capacities through the years and has been instrumental in furthering the quality of life of those she cares so deeply about; and

Whereas, Mrs. Yarborough has been a member of the Darlington County Disabilities and Special Needs Board since 1987, and served as Chairman for the years 1997 through 2000 and also served as Secretary for the 19871991 and 19941997 terms. She is a member of the Hartsville Area Development Center Board and held the office of Secretary from 1974 to 1987; and

Whereas, Mrs. Yarborough is a member of the Parent Council Board of the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs, the Pee Dee Regional Center, since 1986, and has been the secretary since 1990. She also served four terms as Secretary of the South Carolina Autism Society, of which Mrs. Yarborough has been a member for eighteen years; and

Whereas, during the years 1985 to 1994, Faye Yarborough was a member of the Board of Directors of the Mental Health Association of Darlington County. In July 1999, Mrs. Yarborough was awarded the Distinguished Service Award for the First Church of the Nazarene; and

Whereas, Mrs. Yarborough cofounded Parents and Advocates of Developmental Disabilities (PADD) in 1997; and

Whereas, Mrs. Yarborough retired from Sonoco Products Company after fortythree years of service as the Executive Secretary. She has continued to work for the enhancement of those with disabilities and thus the members of the General Assembly find it appropriate to pause in their deliberations so that they might recognize and honor the good work of this distinguished and accomplished South Carolinian. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, express their appreciation for the dedicated work performed by Mrs. Faye S. Yarborough, of Hartsville, in Darlington County, on behalf of people with disabilities in Darlington County and throughout the State.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mrs. Faye S. Yarborough.
