GUIDANCE NOTES
FOR INDIVIDUALS INVOLVED IN
ARTS, CULTURAL OR SPORTS ACTIVITIES
1INTRODUCTION
1.1Grants for individuals are intended to assist in improving performance.
1.2Grants are only available to nationally recognised training events in Arts, Cultural or Sports activities.
2ELIGIBILITY
2.1Only individuals of amateur status, who are resident within South Ayrshire are eligible to apply for assistance.
2.2Grants are available to individuals with potential in Arts, Cultural and Sports pursuits to assist with the cost of travel, training facilities, equipment and competition costs.
2.3In assessing applications, the Council will have regard to the individual’s record of performance and level of attainment. Priority will be given to training, increase in skills and attending specialist seminars.
2.4Grant is not allowed:-
(i)for items of personal clothing.
(ii)for replacement of equipment
(iii)in circumstances where applicants have previously been funded by the Council to attend an event within twelve months of the date of the event for which he/she is seeking support
3LEVELS OF GRANT
3.1Amounts payable are up to a maximum of £150.
3.2Applications cannot be considered from applicants who have previously been funded by the Council to attend an event within twelve months of the date of the event for which he/she is seeking support.
4MAIN CONDITIONS
4.1It is necessary for each applicant to provide a detailed and costed future programme as well as evidence of previous and current performance.
4.2The comments and assessments of the applicant’s governing body, if appropriate, will be required before a final decision is made.
4.3Applications may be received up to 30 days after the date of expenditure. In such cases they must be accompanied by relevant receipts.
5PROCESSING OF APPLICATIONS
5.1The application will be considered by senior officers of the Council under the Council’s Scheme of Delegation.
5.2The final decision will be conveyed by letter to the applicant. Any award will be payable by cheque.
5.3Following receipt of any grant award, receipts/accounts and other methods of proof of expenditure will be required by the Council within six months of the date of expenditure.
