Fall Conference Cont’d

Who Are You?

Keith Nielsen, District 19 Director

Hello District 19!

It is that time of year again where we are getting excited to get together and showcase the best of the best in District 19. I am proud and excited to have the conference back in Dubuque this fall. Our conference committee has worked hard to put on a great event for you. We have world class speakers like Mark Brown and Sunny Faronbi as well as a visit from our own Region 4 International Director Monique Levesque-Pharoah. I am excited to present to you the budget and District Success Plan that the team has worked so hard at putting together. It will be a great conference with the exciting business meeting and the contests for Evaluation and Humorous speeches.

The Trio returned from a great week of training in Washington D.C. please feel free to speak to the Trio and ask us questions on our trip. We would all love to share the experiences and learning we had with the leaders from around the world.

As always this conference and everything the district does is all about you. Please let us know if you have questions comments or concerns. I look forward to seeing you in Dubuque!

You Contribute to the Success of the District

Brenda Peshak, District 19 Club Growth Director

Happy October Toastmasters! Who doesn’t love the Fall? Well me when it starts getting really cold out. I do love Halloween; seeing the pumpkins and I still enjoy carving pumpkins. Halloween has always been a special time for my family since my Dad’s birthday is on Halloween. We would carve pumpkins a few days ahead as a family. Speaking of family, this year is very awesome in that I get to see my “Toastmasters family” in addition to my “real” family!

Are you registered for the conference? It is a time of food, “family”, and fun. I enjoy the learning opportunities, not only from the great speakers, but also the networking with Toastmasters from all over the state. Conferences are a time to learn and grow both for yourself and your club. I strongly encourage taking the time to come to this conference and build some bridges!

Program Quality Director

Jeanne Heil, District 19 Program Quality Director

Greetings from Cedar Rapids! Welcome to another great Toastmasters year – the year of SUCCESS! District 19’s Program Quality department has been working diligently to create a foundation for you and every member in the district to achieve success.

We started building that foundation, by training all of our district officers. During the monthly District Executive Committee meetings that have been taking place since June, your district leaders (area directors, division directors, committee chairs, etc.) have been working hard to build our knowledge base to better serve you.

We added to that foundation, when the Division Directors, with the assistance of the Area Directors, took the reins and organized outstanding Toastmasters Leadership Institutes (TLI’s) and make-up club officer training. The TLI’s and club officer training allow every officer the opportunity to learn about their role, share best practices with other club leaders, and develop new ideas to infuse even more excellence into club meetings.

Finally, the Program Quality department worked tirelessly to bring you and clubs exciting incentives, and introduced District 19 Bookstore Bucks. I challenge each of you to take a look at the list of incentives available, set your own personal goals, and set goals for your club.

By careful planning, purposeful training, and a drive to achieve, every member and club in our district will achieve success!

I am honored to be a part of your journey, and look forward to cheering for each and every incentive, award, and goal that earned! Together, we will do GREAT things!

This Proxy certificate must be submitted to the Credentials’ Desk to obtain ballot.

FACTS: At the district council meeting, each club president and vice president of education in attendance is entitled to one vote. However, if either or both officers cannot attend, they may designate, in writing, any other active member of their club to act as proxy or proxies for their club. (Use the form above).

In the event one of these officers does not attend the meeting and has not designated in writing an active member of the club to act as his or her proxy, the officer or proxy holder in attendance is deemed to hold the proxy of the other, and may therefore cast two votes at the meeting.
