2/13/12 Meeting Minutes
Members signed in with Secretary Molly and began making valentines and valentine boxes.

President Cameron Watson called the meeting to order at 7:15pm.
10 Second Rule. No Idling presentation by Dakeita Vanderburg-Johnson, past Chair of the Cabarrus Sustainability Council. The Outdoor Air Quality presentation focused on turning-off engines. Free signs advertising the “No Idling Policy” are available through Dakeita.
Valentines 2 Seniors, 2/14, 3:00pm, First Assembly Living Center (beside Fire Station #3), chair: Madison Walker. Walker, Matt & Sarah H., Kirsten, Rachel J., Megan, Madison L. & Hannah will distribute to residents the valentines and valentine boxes made today.
Old Courthouse Theatre ushers for To Kill a Mockingbird, OCT, 49 Spring St. NW, Chairs: Kena Patel & Danielle Aguiar. Thank you to volunteers for the first 4 performances: Bethany, Cassidy, John, Andrew, Anissa, Caroline F., Andre, Ashley, Gabby, Danielle & Kena. Volunteers for 2/18 (Will) & 2/25 (Emily) signed up tonight.
Community Free Clinic, Chair: Rebecca Skahen. Volunteer for 2/21: Sarah A. at front desk; Mandy & Kelly in pharmacy.
Confetti eggs, Academy Recreation Center, 3/5, 3:00pm, Academy Rec Center, chair Kirsten. Eggs will be dyed, filled with confetti, sealed and sold on the Bunny Trail at Bunny Bash. Volunteers: Mercedes, Alexa, Walker, Grant, Margaret, Macayla, Alexis, Loren, Rachel & Sarah C., Dominique & Anna.

Elections for 2012-2013 officers will be held 3/12! Anyone interested in running for an office needs to email Debbie with your preference by MIDNIGHT Thursday 2/16. Interviews will be scheduled for the week following the deadline.
Bunny Bash, 4/7, WW Flowe Park, chair: Cameron Watson. Mark your calendar!!! We will discuss the festival and assignments at the next meeting.
Viva Verde Earth Fest, 4/14, North Cabarrus Park, chair Alexa Labadie. Alexa volunteered to be chair and met with Taylor after the meeting.
Newsletter, Community Ties, Editor: Rachel Jones; staff includes Anna, Dylan, Mercedes, Cal, Sarah A. Rachel reminded her staff to submit their articles and encouraged other council members to get involved by sending material they find interesting or want to share.
New member applications can be found on the web page: www.concordnc.gov/Resident/Youth-Council. Please encourage rising freshmen and sophomores to submit an application.
Please remember to wear your Youth Council t-shirt to all events and projects!!
Next meeting will be February 27, 7:00pm at the Fire Station #9 on Poplar Tent Road.
