Job Title: Advice and Guidance Mentor
Responsible to:Assistant Headteacher
Salary Grade:4
Key Purpose:
- Work within the pastoral teams to provide careers advice, information and guidance to students about future educational choices andcareer pathways
- Organise and implement the comprehensive in-house careers programme and provision
- Provide pastoral assistance to students and staff as part of the sixth-form pastoral team
Main Responsibilities:
- Work within pastoral teams for careers appointments, administration, referrals, assemblies and group work
- Supervision of 6th form study area and mentoring/ pastoral support of students
- Assist with personal statements and university applications
- Supporting the transition of new and vulnerable students into the sixth form
- Plan and organise careers events in school including the Year 12 interview days
- Ensure a personalised careers action plan is in place for sixth form students
- Liaising with training providers/ colleges and universities regarding courses on offer
- Liaising with organisations to source training/work experience opportunities
- Monitoring and recording student destinations
- Distributing general careers information relating to university open days, taster days, apprenticeship opportunities, work placement opportunities networking events etc
- Maintaining careers notice boards, library and information sources
- Sourcing business contacts and arranging speakers, apprenticeship opportunities and interview skills training
- Arrange college visits for selectedKS4 students
- Visit vocational students on placements where required
Additional Duties:
- Contribute to whole school events such as activities days
- To occasionally escort and supervise pupils on educational visits and out of school activities
- In exceptional circumstances you may be required to provide cover for students
