UKCC RUGBY COACHING COURSES
There are many opportunities to attend coaching courses throughout Scotland and all courses are advertised on www.scottishrugby.com website under “everyone’s game” & “coaching”. Those coaches working with mini/micro players should complete the UKCC Level 1 course and those working with Youths/Adults should complete the Level 2.
RUGBYRIGHT COURSE
Scottish Rugby has launched its new online training course, RugbyRight, for all coaches, teachers and referees, focusing on improving player welfare and safety standards. The RugbyRight course replaces the Rugby Ready practical courses run in previous seasons, which educated over 4500 coaches annually. The course places a strong emphasis on concussion management, anti-doping and safe tackle techniques. A law application update, which focuses on clarifications for season 2015/16, is also included.
The online course has been created on an online resource hub, which every coach in Scotland will have access to, by clicking https://scottishrugbytraining.litmos.com/self-signup/, using the access code RR15-16. Once registered, you can access the RugbyRight course on a mobile device by downloading the Litmos LMS app on Apple, Android or Windows devises. Courses can be completed online and vital for any volunteer coaches, officials, senior pupils and PE departments working in schools to ensure we are providing a safe environment for our rugby players.
REFEREEING
There are many opportunities to get involved in rugby refereeing locally or nationally. First of all, you should attend a Level 1 course, join your local society and get out there refereeing to build up more experience. You will then be selected to attend Level 2, 3 or 4 courses. A full list of all Level 1 courses are advertised on www.scottishrugby.com under “everyone’s game” & “refereeing”.
Your local Society, Highland Rugby Referee Society (HRRS) meet on the last Monday of the month (from September-March normally in Inverness but at other locations throughout the area) to help develop, further develop and upskill all society referees. If you would like to become a referee or attend a referee course, give me a call or drop me an email.
