INITIAL IFSP IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING CORE EVALUATION
POLICY:
Development of the Initial IFSP Immediately Following the Core Evaluation
PURPOSE OF THE POLICY:
Under certain circumstances and at the discretion of the Initial Service Coordinator, the IFSP may be developed immediately after the core evaluation with parental consent.

PROCEDURE:
The following conditions must be met prior to the IFSP being done:
- The parent must give consent;
- The parent must be given a handwritten summary of the evaluation results and recommendations (see samples attached).
Circumstances that are appropriate for developing the IFSP immediately after the evaluation are, but not limited to:
- The parent has previously been through the Early Intervention process with another child and understands the process;
- The child has a diagnosed condition, and the need for services is evident;
- The child’s needs are evident, and the parent agrees or requests that services begin as soon as possible.
The conditions and circumstances may be discussed with the parent at the intake visit, and permission obtained at that time.
Written confirmation to the parent and written notification to the evaluation team regarding immediate IFSP meeting following the core evaluation will be provided by the Service Coordinator.
