IAAE is pleased to announce the28th International Conference of Agricultural Economists, to be held in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil fromAugust 18 to August 24, 2012. The next triennial conference’s central theme will be “The Global Bio-Economy”.
The 28th ICAE proposes to address changes, their effects and the best ways to address the challenges. The conference will bring together leading experts in these areas and provide a forum for exchange of ideas and new insights. Brazil is an excellent location to host such a conference as it has long embraced the new bio-economy and is now a very important global player in many aspects of it, while facing the associated challenges.

3rd International Conference on Research and Development (ICRD 2012)
August 20-22, 2012: Bern, Switzerland
The 3rd ICRD on Research for Global Transformation is the NCCR North-South's final major event, andwill be a showcase for what the 12-year program has achieved since its launch in 2001.
The aim of the conferenceis to share and discuss recent insights on development-oriented research conducted in North-South partnerships, and to develop a research policy agenda for global transformation. The conference will offer participants an opportunity to discuss their experiences with research partnerships. Its objectives are to:
- share and discuss most recent insights on development-oriented research conducted in North-South partnerships
- outline an agenda for research partnerships with developing and transition countries in support of more equitable and sustainable global transformation.
Participants in the conference are expected to bring in multiple national and international perspectives on development-oriented research, policy dialogue, and practice aiming towards global transformation. The Food Industry as a Sector of the National Economy

Department of Economics and Economic Policy organizes the conference on "The Food Industry as a Sector of the National Economy", which is the fourth in a series of conferences on leading topic "Changes in the food industry in European countries."
The conference will become a platform for exchanging views and allow for the presentation of research results from the theory and practice of economic policy, in particular their relation to agri-food sector in Poland and other countries

System Dynamics and Innovation in Food Networks
February 18-22, 2013: Innsbruck-Igls, Austria
This forum is a joint initiative by agri-food groups of leading European and international universities and business schools providing a discussion platform for the European and international scientific community.
It is the objective of this Forum to provide an interdisciplinary and creative discussion environment that generates new ideas for innovative and multidisciplinary research. Its focus is on the analysis of the food system dynamics and interdependencies; the identification of drivers for sustainable system dynamics in the decision sphere of the system actors (e.g. chain management, consumers, agencies, policy, etc.); and on the identification and promotion of potential system innovations. The forum will feature presentations and discussions in a mountain venue that should foster exchange, creativity, and the development of new ideas for innovative and interdisciplinary research. 8th IAG Conference of Geomorphology

PhD Course on the Empiricsof Economic Organizations and Transaction Costs with Scott E. Masten
August 27-September 1, 2012: Uppsala, Sweden.
The course is and inquiry into the fundamental principles of organizational choice viewed through the transaction cost lens. The main focus is on the empirical method of studying organizational and contact choice. Theory and empirical applications on agri-food chains are presented in depth. Practical exercises with actual data estimated using economic methods are integrated into the course.

Experimental Auctions: Theory and Applications in Food Marketing and Customer Preferences Analysis
September 3-8, 2012: Imola, Italy
The summer school is aimed at learning the fundamentals and the recent advances of experimental auctions. It will provide the appropriate techniques to construct an experimental design, with software applications and workshops regarding specific problems in the fields of food market valuation. It will also provide the appropriate knowledge of the models used in the experimental auction literature for the data analysis. Results interpretation and policy implications will be also discussed.
A certificate will be awarded to all participants. A final exam is scheduled on Saturday, September 8 for those who need the certificate of attendance to be associated to a grade in order to ask for credits recognition. The deadline for late registration is 10 July 2012.
