Full time vacancy, Monday –Friday 40 hrs per week with some weekend working
Salary £18,512 - £20,369 depending on skills and experience. This is a Senior Ranger position.
OVERVIEW
Hill Holt Wood is a nationally recognised, multi award-winning and well established Environmental Social Enterprise, working to prove the value of ancient woodland in the 21stCentury. It currently employs 40 full and part time Rangers and is engaged in a wide range of activities which include the education of disadvantaged young people, promotion of health and wellbeing, conservation, forestry operations, design and build services and significant events and hire, including Weddings, Corporate entertaining and landmark birthday celebrations. It has enjoyed considerable success over the last 15 years and continues to build on its strong position focussing on sustainability, environmentalism, conservation and social awareness.
To become part of our team, we are looking for someone with the skills and experience to help build on our health provision at our sister site at Norton Bigwood.
HILL HOLT HEALTH PROVISION
Our Woodland based health programme offers a nature-based wellbeing service. By getting outside and working within the ancient woodland setting our participants find improvements to their physical and mental health.
Increased social involvement and physical activity is encouraged by managing our beautiful woodland for the benefit of local people and the environment with the positive health benefits ensuring participant fulfilment.
Currently the site is accessed four days a week by 20 fee paying participants. Their daily activities are led by our full-time health ranger.
Hill Holt Wood provides the countryside services contract to our local authority. As part of this provision we greatly encourage the use of the stepping out footpath network we manage. Health walks and the North Kesteven walking festival are key components of our health provision.
Duties to include:
- To ensure the wellbeing and personal and health development of the programme participants.
- To maintain and develop the business aspect of the programme to ensure its financial sustainability.
- To liase with health professionals to develop pathways for new referrals.
- Organisation and promotion of the North Kesteven annual walking festival and monthly walks throughout the stepping out footpath network.
Key Skills required:
- Excellent organisational and motivational skills.
- Patience and empathy with the participants.
- Passion for promoting positive health within the natural environment.
- Understanding of health systems involved in the recruitment of participants.
- Highly proficient in IT and administrative tasks.
An understanding of Health and Safety and Safeguarding is essential.
Full driving licence is essential.
The successful applicant must also be able to set their own targets and work on their own initiative.
