Nicole K. Ross
Principal, Global Employee Engagement & Culture
ExactTarget
Nicole Ross graduated from IU Bloomington’s Kelley School of Business and was recruited by the Governor Bob Orr Entrepreneurial Fellowship. She joined ExactTarget as part of her Fellowship commitment from 2005-2007, but she couldn’t fathom leaving the fast-paced company after just two years. She’s been “Orange” ever since. Ross has held a variety of Marketing roles within ExactTarget over the past seven years. After a few years as the company’s sole copywriter, she pioneered a new role called Creative Developer and built a team and process focused on injecting creativity into the sales process, which ultimately influenced over $20M in new business in three years. She went on to manage ExactTarget’s design team and creative agencies, where she was responsible for combined budgets of ~$300K annually. Most recently, Ross was promoted to a new role (she likes making up jobs from scratch; don’t tell HR…) within the Human Resources organization, Principal, Global Employee Engagement & Culture, where she is responsible for leading the company’s corporate culture initiatives and HR “marketing” to current and potential employees.
Her favorite accomplishment came in 2007 when she co-founded ExactTarget’s college recruiting programs, the Catapult Rotational Program and Slingshot Internship Program. She continues to sit on the programs’ Steering Committee and has loved watching over sixty students complete the programs.
Ross is currently finishing her Masters in Philanthropic Studies from IUPUI’s Center on Philanthropy and will graduate in May 2012. She is a member of the Writers’ Center of Indiana and the author of two in-progress books, a mildly-amusing (she hopes) memoir and her first novel.
