ERICH ZIMMERMANN

Loving Hearts, Pirates and Princesses

Passionate novelties from Erich Zimmermann's atelier: This spring, Zimmermann will present his Heart locket after another intense phase of meticulous work on even the tiniest detail that he puts into each new collection before it has matured to perfection in a long process and can leave his atelier. As a result, this locket pendant stands out for the very same signature features that set Zimmermann's jewelry apart. Like so many of his pieces, its design is of such harmony and perfection as if it has existed since time immemorial. Crafted from warm, matte or polished yellow gold, either in a plain version or delicately set with precious gemstones, it presents itself when closed as a flatteringly smooth, voluminous shape: a perfect piece of jewelry, even without any contents. If we want to see what's inside, the heart opens into two halves held by a solid hinge. One of these halves serves as a place to keep something we cherish under a transparent rock crystal, for instance an endearing picture of our child, a lock of our sweetheart's hair or that small note that changed our life.

Existential matters are also the theme of Erich Zimmermann's Pirate collection which he has expanded considerably since he introduced it last year. A fascinating double-cross between gloominess and glowing brilliance lends his new gray gold Pirate rings a truly breathtaking aura. The radiance of a magnificent brilliant-cut diamond set in the center of the gray skull serves as a symbol of eternity that sharply contrasts the classic motif of transience. In addition to rings and pendants made of gray or white gold, the Pirate line has also been expanded by new pieces crafted from white coral which, wed with vividly colorful gemstones, enter into a fascinating dialog with the morbid skull.

Apart from working on new creations, Erich Zimmermann continuously further develops his three well-known Cleopatra, Cocoon and Princess lines that have already become classics in the jewelry world. In 2007, his Cocoon necklace was awarded the first prize in the Gold category of the American Town & Country Awards which, in the USA, are widely regarded as the "Oscars" of the jewelry industry. His Princess rings present themselves this spring with wonderful new gemstone colors – thanks to Zimmermann's regular trips to the Far East where this goldsmith and gemstone expert himself selects and buys the most exquisite gems.
