PRODUCER OFFSET AND CO-PRODUCTION STATUS
IMPORTANT: You must be able to provide a Producer Offset Provisional Certificate and (where relevant) Provisional Co-production approval before the decision meeting at which your Production Investment application will be considered. To allow Screen Australia’s Producer Offset and Co-production Unit (POCU) sufficient processing time, this means you must have lodged the relevant form/s with them before submitting your Production Investment application.
Because the POCU is subject to the provisions of the Tax Act they cannot share information with the Production Investment Department, you must provide the POCU’s email confirmation with your investment application as proof of lodgement.

The applicant must either hold appropriate rights or have an appropriate option to acquire the rights necessary to produce the film. This includes, for example, the copyright in a screenplay and the right in any underlying work on which the screenplay is based (ie a book, unpublished manuscript, etc).
Relevant chain of title documents must be provided with your application. These are the documents that establish that the applicant holds appropriate rights to produce and exploit the film. Examples include option agreements, extension of option agreements, writer’s agreements, quitclaim deeds and co-development agreements. All chain of title documents should be signed and dated.
Note that Screen Australia may require you to provide a solicitor’s opinion where the chain of title is particularly complex or Screen Australia considers there to be exceptional circumstances.
