______CALAMITY JANE - In the wild-west outpost of Deadwood City, 1876, we find the sharpshooting tomboy, Calamity Jane surrounded by cowboys, townsfolk, and the famous Wild Bill Hickok. After a mix-up with the performers at Deadwood's saloon-theatre, Calamity Jane goes to Chicago to bring back to Deadwood the glamorous actress, Adelaide Adams, but by mistake returns with her maid, Katie Brown. Back in Deadwood, Katie's inability to perform is overcome and she wins the heart of the young Lieutenant Danny Gilmartin. Katie gradually helps Calamity Jane shed her tomboy persona and at the Army Ball, Calamity and Wild Bill Hickok realize that they love one another.

______

*AGE GROUP: 9-16 years (School years 4-11) Upper Age: In line with FAOS direction, it is important to emphasise that wherever possible, the Production Team will aim to cast named parts from the 9-16 years age group. However we will be delighted if past ‘Spellbounders’ still want to audition for lesser roles or assist the production team.

Lower Age: It is important that Parents and Carers consider the ‘staying power’ of 9-11 year olds. Although a great experience with frequent breaks and lots of fun, the hours of the workshop week and particularly show week (perhaps 5.30-11pm), can be very long for younger ones.
