Regular Council Meeting July 15, 2010

Mayor Thomas L. Hardesty called the regular council meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. with the following council members present: Alan Matthews, Mike Zoeller, Donna Eaton, Jon Swindler and George Best. Absent: Shane Suttor

City Employees Present: Bob Schutte and Inez Harris

City Attorney: Absent

Councilmember Best gave the invocation.

All present pledged allegiance to the flag.

Minutes/ June 17, 2010

Councilmember Matthews moved to approve the minutes of June 17, 2010, as read by council members prior to the meeting. Seconded by Councilmember Best.

All voted “aye” and motion carried.

Presentation – 7th Street Corridor Plan – Ryan Libke, Triple S Planning and Zoning

Ryan Libke, Executive Director with Triple S Planning and Zoning, made a presentation to council regarding the Seventh Street corridor. The corridor will run from Washington Street to the entrance of the Park.

Mr. Libke explained a company called City Solutions Center has offered their services. The company is associated with the University of Louisville. They are looking for a project that is ready to go. They will work on the designs for the intersection, sidewalk, curbs, etc. They will start this fall. All services will be free.

Department Reports

Ryan Libke, Executive Director of Triple S Planning and Zoning, informed council the developer of Bridlewood (JMD) has defaulted on the project. There is bond money to finish the road. He is working with Jennifer Herrell to get the bid specs which will be approve by Planning and Zoning.

Eilene Collins, Executive Director, Shelby Development Corporation, reported Jubilee begins in 2 weeks. The art show will be held at the library in the Ken Hudson room. The speaker for the Jubilee Breakfast is Walt Reichert.

Police Chief Bob Schutte reported some officers are attending storm watch training sessions. Run totals are down 2% and crime is down 25% for the first 6 months. KLC firearms simulator was brought in for training.

Mayor’s Report

Mayor Hardesty announced Fire Station 3 is up and running. We will have a grand opening/open house as soon as possible. We have received one bid for the Weissinger sidewalk at Hwy. 53. There will be no council meeting on August 5, 2010 due to the horse show.

Council Reports

Councilmember Best reported the Historic District received 10 applications for renovations in the district and 2 certificates for removable of 2 trees.

Councilmember Zoeller moved to adjourn at 7:05 p.m. Seconded by Councilmember Eaton.
