Karsten Management Services is a division of the Karsten Group, one of South Africa's leading agri-businesses. The Durbanville office is recruiting for:
IT TECHNICIAN
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the IT infrastructure, which will include, but is not limited to, the company network and server infrastructure.
The main IT functions will be:-
- To maintain a high degree of in-house service for all support queries and adhere to
management principles.
- To take ownership of user problems, to be pro-active when dealing with user issues and to assist users to resolve hardware and software problems.
- Ensure connectivity of IT systems between Karsten farms and offices.
- To support users remotely and visit users on other sites to assist.
- Support users in the use of computer equipment by providing necessary training and advice.
- Pre-build and setup PCs / notebooks and systems where required
- Carry out in-house system testing.
- Be responsible for in-house system back-ups.
- Cost Management of the department budget
- Provide technical support during the implementation and operation of an ERP system, namely VITRAX, VIP and ACCPAC (Sage ERP 300)
- Do regular research to ensure that the company is always abreast with developments in the sector.
- Assist with the purchase of equipment (IT Hardware/software, Telecoms & Audio-visual systems)
Skills Required
- A minimum of 4-5 years' experience as a network support professional
- Setup, support and maintain the core IT infrastructure
- Storage networks, backup and data retention
- Support the internal network and user accounts & troubleshooting
- Ability to troubleshoot and provide recommendations for resolving technical issues.
- Understanding local and remote Servers
- Veritas back-up knowledge will be an advantage
- Ms SQL experience
- Basic understanding of PC hardware set-up and configuration.
- Hands on approach and a willingness to learn.
- Strong interpersonal skills - comfortable interaction with all levels of company employees
