Statement: Representative Drew Hansen focuses on jobs in the Washington State Legislature. He expanded the Olympic College engineering program so we can train more engineers for the shipyards, sponsored legislation to prepare more students for jobs in the high-technology industry, and protected marine industry jobs by passing legislation to remove derelict boats from our waterways. Drew’s jobs bills have won statewide, bipartisan praise from business, newspapers, and Republicans; he has a proven track record of working successfully across party lines on practical, common-sense legislation. Held Commanding Officer status with 6 units in port security/safey, national defense, communications and strategic planning. 40 years of business experience developing and running a real-estate investment firm. My business success is builton bedrock principles of hard work, innovation, cost containment, economy, and bold leadership.
Education: Hobart College B.A. History 1972Completed national-security curriculum at Naval War College, National Defense University, and US Coast Guard.
Community Service: Active in community, church and county matters on issues of faith, family, environment, and fiscal responsibility.
Statement: I have unique experience in streaminling the USCG over performance, manning, and funding that must be applied to Olympia. I am an independent problem-solver committed to Olympia reform to foster efficiency, economy, legal care of our most vulnerable disabled population and protection of our environment while fostering private business and job creation.
I am a tireless advocate for free market solutions to Olympia’s challenges in pension funding, transportation, education reform/funding and incubation and retention of private business. As an independent, I will not be subservient to any union or special-interest forces. Reform is our clear salvation.
