Welcome

Welcome the first edition of the new care models update of 2017. The new year got off to a great start for our programme with the return of #FabVanguardWeek, a social media event organised in partnership with The Academy of Fab NHS Stuff. The week celebrated the progress, achievements and innovations of the vanguards and others delivering new models of care across the country and involved a range of people from across health and care.
In mid-January, we welcomed Professor Don Berwick former advisor to President Obama back to the UK. During his four-day visit Professor Berwick met with a range of vanguard teams and leaders offering his support and guidance. You can read more about his trip below.
At the end of January I spoke at the National Voices Annual Conference, one of the largest gatherings of health and care charities. During the event, I announced new plans to support vanguards in the way that they empower people and communities, with a particular focus on how they take more control of their own health and wellbeing.
Over the next year we will be taking part in a number of key events and conferences, so I hope you will be able to come along.
