In July 2012 Congress enacted the National Flood Insurance Program [NFIP] Reform Act of 2012, often referred to as Biggert-Waters. The Act requires changes to the NFIP. Some changes have already been put in place while others will be implemented in the coming months. One change is the elimination of existing flood insurance subsidies resulting in higher costs to most policy holders [some significantly].
