Course Description

Physics is a one-credit high school course which shall include at least 40 percent investigation and fieldwork using appropriate scientific inquiry. Students in this course will attain a fundamental knowledge of the principles of motion, forces, sound, light, electricity, magnetism, and energy. This course provides students with a conceptual framework, factual knowledge, and the analytical and scientific skills to deal critically in a real-world setting with rapidly evolving physics concepts.

Grades

•  Labs 40%

•  Unit Exams 30%

•  Daily 30%

The policy of awarding a 50% minimum is no longer in effect. Students will receive the grade they earn.

Assignments

·  All work is to be turned in on time.

·  Late work will not be accepted

·  If student is absent on a due date, the assignment will be due on the first day back to class.

Make-Up (for excused absences)

·  Assignments:

o  If student is absent on the day work is assigned it is the student’s responsibility to get that assignment and its due date will be determined by the teacher.

·  Tests:

o  Tests missed due to an absence will be taken on a date determined by the teacher

o  Tests will be different from initial exam.

Retest

·  Retests will be given according to district policy. The date and time will be determined by the teacher. Only unit exams will be retested

Tutoring

·  I will be available for tutoring Tuesday - Thursday 7:45 am – 8:10 am.

3 Ring Binder

·  A binder will be kept for the class. It will contain all daily work, handouts, labs, notes, and quizzes. Your binder must have dividers of some type, a coversheet / Title page, and be in order throughout the quarter. It will be checked periodically for a daily grade

·  The organization is up to you but it must be clearly marked for easy reference.
