VE WEEKEND WORLD WAR TWO MOTORBIKE RIDE
ABF The Soldiers’ Charity with Home Front History is organising a WW2 era Military and Civilian Motorbike Ride on Saturday 6 May 2017. The start point for the ride will be in Theale, Berkshire and the finish point in Hungerford, Berkshire, the chosen route being a distance of approximately 24 miles.
Registration at the start in the village of Theale will be from 10.30am – 12.30pm with riders and their supporters able to enjoy the hospitality of the local community before beginning their ride.
At the finish on the Triangle Field in Hungerford a variety of activities will be in place allowing riders, their supporters and guests to relax and enjoy the day. Hungerford Rugby Club will welcome everyone to its Clubhouse where both drinks and food will be available. Riders will be asked to participate in a mass ride through the Town centre later in the day once everyone has arrived at the finish. Attractions include a Vintage and Retro fair and on the evening of 6 May the Apollo Big Band, with a 1940s themed dance and an evening meal available. There will also be displays of WW2 vehicles with re-enactors bringing the history of the period to life.
Supporters and guests may wish to stay overnight in Hungerford. A list of local hotels and B&Bs can be found at:
From this page click on ‘Business Directory’ and then ‘Eat, Drink and Stay’. Free camping on the Triangle Field at the Rugby Club will also be possible.

Local Harley Davidson Chapters have kindly agreed to assist ABF The Soldiers’ Charity and Home Front History with marshalling and support for this event at the start, along the route and at the finish point. The Chapters will also bring a variety of Harley Davidson motorbikes to the event for spectators to view at the start and the finish.
