PURPOSE OF JOB:
To work as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide nursing and general care to students and to contribute to the effective delivery of all aspects of health and social care provision across the 24 hours, within current legislation and Scope and Meldreth Manorpolicies and procedures
To provide care in all facets and promote independence, general good health and wellbeing, ensuring that high professional standards are maintained at all times
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

STRATEGY, POLICY AND PLANNING

To implement Scope policies and procedures
To contribute, as appropriate, to the development of Meldreth Manor’s Business Plan
To participate in the regular review and development of health and residential care provision across Meldreth Manor, to meet the changing needs and expectations within the fields of care and education

FINANCE

To contribute to the implementation and monitoring of agreed budget expenditure relating to health care

PROCESSES AND SYSTEMS

To ensure practice is matched to policy in all aspects of health and social care provision
To implement Meldreth Manor’s health and safety and child or adult protection procedures, ensuring a safe environment for staff and students.
To monitor and maintain appropriate and adequate supplies of medicines and both emergency and routine health care resources necessary to support student’s feeding, breathing or general health needs
To monitor practice and to actively support and participate in the administration of medicine to students.
To liase with the Lead Nurse and Flat Managers and Night Support Workers to implement agreed standards and to monitor that provision within the residential flats against national, Scope and Meldreth Manorstandards.
To maintain records and prepare reports as required by the Lead Nurse or Care Management team and by statutory regulations and Scope and Meldreth Manor’s policies and procedures

STAFF

To support and participate in the effective running of the social care team within the residential flats across the 24 hours, including the dissemination and handover of information
To lead and support staff in the management of any medical emergency
To support, guide and advise staff in the provision of direct care to students
To contribute to the delivery of interdisciplinary staff training and development programmes within Meldreth Manor, relevant to health and care

QUALITY ASSURANCE

To help to ensure that the requirements of external agencies such as Social Services, DfEE and OFSTED are fully met
To contribute to the monitoring of student health, welfare and social development within the residential flats, across the 24 hours
To contribute to the development, implementation and review of individual student Care Plans

COMMUNICATION

To maintain effective links with parents, local authorities and other external agencies
To implement the systems for maintaining communication links with parents and other external parties, regarding health and welfare
To implement and maintain an effective communication structure to reach all staff involved in providing direct care to the students within the residential flats and classrooms across the 24 hours

PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

To plan personal and professional development needs with the Lead Nurse to help achieve the Development and Business Plan for the service and to maintain professional registration requirements
