Recovery Engagement Coordinator

Job Description:

Healing Transitions is a long-term, 12-step based, social model recovery program for individuals with substance use disorders. We are looking for a dynamic individual with recovery experience to serve in a leadership role for our men’s and women’s detoxification centers and emergency shelters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervision of Shelter and Detox Staff, Quality of care and Student interns
  • Clinical consultation for staff
  • Case management services when an individual’s needs exceed our scope of practice
  • Orientation of new Detox/Shelter Monitors
  • Staff training
  • Create and maintain a healthy environment in both detoxes and shelters that is welcoming and conducive to recovery engagement
  • Data collection to assist with service provision and outcomes
  • Coordination and collaboration with other departments
  • Work to reduce barriers to services, increase engagement and retention, and improve participant outcomes

  1. Leadership – This position will require strong leadership skills to motivate and engage employees. Individual will need to be able to role model effective participant engagement skills as well as strong supervisory and management skills.
  2. Participant engagement – Individual must be non-judgmental, empathetic, genuine and trustworthy.
  3. Organized – Individual must have good organizational skills and be able to balance and prioritize responsibilities.
  4. Self-care – There are inherent risks associated with work in the recovery field, particularly to those with a program of personal recovery. To protect against these risks, individual must have good boundaries, engage in regular supervision and self-care.
  5. Passion – Individual must bring a passion for recovery and a positive attitude.
  6. Communication – Individual must possess strong communication skills and ability to build rapport, trust amongst participants, and staff in particular.
  7. Flexibility –Individual must be able to adapt to changing environment, culture, and processes. Must possess creativity to advance our organization and humility to continually grow and learn from others.

Education, Experience and Attributes:

A Master’s Degree in Social Work or similar field is required and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist is preferred. Must have supervisory experience and a minimum of three years’ experience in equivalent role preferred. Must have a valid Driver’s License and ability to use a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, and database management.
