MyLabsPlus is an online program that you will be using for a significant portion of your homework assignments. This online multimedia resource features the entire textbook online as well as homework exercises with video clips, tutorial exercises, and tracking system. To access MyLabsPlus, proceed as follows:

1. On the web, go to http://roguecc.mylabsplus.com. Your username is RCC+student ID, and your default password is your student ID. (For example, login: RCC1234567, password: 1234567.) This will take you to the MyLabsPlus page. After you log in for the first time, please click on “MyProfile” at the top of the page and make sure the e-mail address listed for you is current. If it’s not, then you need to update your e-mail address with the College.

2. Verify that your system meets the requirements for this course (see chart at the right)

3. Click on the link for this term, and you should see your course.

4. On the main MyLabsPlus page, choose a Chapter and Section from the menu on the left side of the screen. Your homework grades will be scored and recorded as you progress through the assignments—use the Gradebook button on the left to access your scores.

5. If desired, homework problems may be printed out and worked out on paper. (You are strongly encouraged to do this!) Choose a homework problem and then choose the Print button on the right. You may select to print just that problem or the entire set of problems. Once the problems are completed, you must go back into MyLabsPlus to enter the answers.

6. MyLabsPlus has a number of learning aids that you will be able to access for extra help while you are working on the homework. These may include examples, animations, videos, links to the textbook, and links to e-mail your instructor with questions. Take advantage of these resources! However, be careful not to become dependent on them. Using the provided examples as a guide for each problem is not an effective way to study the material. You should use your notes, other homework, and textbook before viewing examples on MyLabsPlus. You will get more out of the homework, and your test scores will reflect a better understanding of the material. (see right: available to the right of each homework question)

Q: Do I have to purchase an access code to MyLabsPlus?

A: Yes. If you buy your textbook from the RCC bookstore, access to MyLabsPlus is included. Alternatively, you can buy access to MyLabsPlus directly from Pearson through the MLP website. Because we are using a customized version of MyLabsPlus, your MLP access code must be purchased either from the RCC bookstore or through the MLP site. Any other type of code will not work. Purchasing the printed version of the textbook is optional, but highly recommended.

Q: Can I do the work on my home computer?

A: Yes. If you plan to do your homework on your own computer, you may need to install browser plug-ins and players. In the course homepage, click the link to the “MyMathLab Browser Check” and follow the on-screen instructions to detect and install the plug-ins and players for the course. An internet connection speed of 28.8 kbps is required.

Q: How do I get access to my homework while waiting for my financial aid to clear?

A: Temporary access is available. Go to the link for Temporary Access on the menu. Fill out the temporary access request form and copy (or write down) the six word code you are given. Then go back to an assignment and enter the code when prompted.

Q: How long is the temporary access code good for?

A: The temporary access good is good for 21 days after the start of the quarter.
Please note that it is NOT good for 21 days after you first use it.

Q: Now that I have temporary access how to I purchase an access code?

A: You can either purchase an access code bundled with a hard copy of your text book at the RCC bookstore or you can purchase your access code online through the MLP website. Unfortunately, once you use the temporary access code, you will need to wait till the expiration date (21 days into the quarter) to be able to purchase the code directly online.
