Dates for your Diary

May 27th : Medals presentation to Girls Soccer champions at 1.30pm in St Fiacc’s school.

May 28th: Confirmation at 11.00am

June 10th: Jersey Day (All proceeds will go towards funding Special Educational Needs Resources at St Fiacc’s). €2 per pupil.

June 10th: St Fiacc’s will close at 12.00 to facilitate in service for Staff in the New Primary Language Curriculum. This closure has been sanctioned by the DES.

June 10th: Parents of next year’s Junior Infants are invited to bring their children in for one hour from 2pm-3pm.

June 15th: BOM meeting at 5pm.

June 17th: Multi-cultural Day (Pupils of different nationalities are invited to wear in their national dress/costumes)

June 20th – 24th: Active Schools Week (pupils may wear tracksuit all week).

June 24th: End of year mass at 11.30 in St Clare’s Church.

June 28th: Graduation Mass at 7.30 in St Clare’s Church

School Calendar 2016-17

School opens for pupils: Thursday September 1st.

St. Fiacc’s will close for a week in February (20th – 24th). Next year’s school calendar is available for viewing on our school website.

School Reports, Book Rental, Class re-mixes

School reports will be sent out mid-June. Could all outstanding Book Rentals (€90) be paid as soon as possible please. There will be three sixth classes next year. Some other year groups may be re-shuffled due to imbalances in ability levels.

Confirmation class note

We wish the pupils of 6th the very best on Saturday as they receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The pupils enjoyed a very special Service of Light with their parents on May 18th and a reflective Retreat on May 25th. Many thanks to Caitriona and all the team who helped with the retreat and also to Fr Dunphy and Suzanne for assisting the class in their preparations for what will be a most memorable occasion.

Active Schools note from Miss Lyons

As part of our application for an Active Schools Flag, St Fiacc’s is trying to increase the number of children who use active transport to get to school each day. Therefore, we ask that all pupils and their families to make an extra effort to walk or cycle to school every Wednesday for the month of June.

We will also be celebrating Bike Week as part of our Active Schools Week from June 20th – 24th . So it’s time to get the brakes and gears checked and dust down the helmets!

All- Ireland Champions

Well done to the girls of St Fiacc’s who captured the All-Ireland Girls’ Five-a-side title at the Aviva Stadium in May. Táimid an-bhródiúil astu!!

Hurling

Well done to the boys of St Fiacc’s who reached the County Semi-finals in their first year; a remarkable achievement. The season will finish with a series of 15-a-side blitzes with Carlow town schools at Carlow town hurling club grounds. The first blitz is Friday June 3rd from 12.30-2.30. The second and third blitzes will take place the following Fridays at the same venue.

Summer Camp note from CRYS

Carlow Regional Youth Service willrun our fun filled Summer Camp fromMonday 4th to Friday 8th Julyat 4 venues, for children aged between 5 and 12. We will also have a busy summer schedule with camps and other activities around the county. There are many varied activities for teenagers, and we would be happy to give more information on these. We are looking for volunteers for our camps, if you are aged 16 and over and would like to participate and learn new skills, applications are available at reception at Montgomery House.
