WA Junior Open and Reserve Chess Tournament

This tournament was snowed out on Jan 16th and has been rescheduled to Feb 4th. If you already registered and that date does not work for you, you may withdraw and get a refund. To withdraw, click your name on the roster, then Modify, enter your password, then select Delete this registration, then Submit. Refunds will be issued within 7 days. Tournament is now open for new player registrations as well.

Note that the 7-12U1400 section was merged into the 4-6U1400 section to create a 4-12U1400 section.

Open Section – a 4 round G/50 Swiss in 1 section.

Longer time controls for advanced players.

Open to all juniors under 21 as of tournament date.

WA winner seeds into the WA Junior Closed tournament next year.

USCF membership required. Update or establish your national rating!

Dual rated, both NWSRS and USCF.

Clocks and notation required – bring your own clocks.

Rounds: 9:00am, 11:00am, lunch, 1:30pm, 3:30pm. Trophy presentation at 5:30pm or after playoffs.

Playoff rounds if needed to break ties for 1st place at 5:30pm: G/10 white, G/8 black with draw odds.

Reserve sections: 5 round G/30 Swiss in 5 sections:

K-3U800, K-3U1400, 4-6U900, 4-12U1400.

For intermediate and beginning players.

Qualifier for WA State Elementary Tournament.

USCF membership not required. NWSRS rated.

Rounds: 9:00am, 10:15am, lunch, 12:15pm, 1:30pm, 2:45pm. Trophy presentation at 4:00pm

All sections: 100% pre-registered, no on-site entries, entry deadline Feb 3rd @ 5:00pm

Check-in required: 8:00am-8:45am. Players not checked in by 8:45am may receive a zero-point bye.

Entry Fees:

Early Entry Fee (deadline Jan 9th) $20.00

Late Entry Fee (Jan 10th or later) $25.00

Trophies for individual, team, plus scores, and upset medals.

Food concessions on site.

Out of state players welcome.

Room for 220 players. We had 196 last year.
