Dear Parents/Carers

R.E. Week

During the week of beginning October 10th the whole school will be taking part in an R.E. week. Which will give the children opportunities to learn, discover and appreciate religions and cultures from around the world. In KS1 we will be studying the religion of Sikhism. As part of our week the children will be taking part in the following activities. A trip to visit a Gurduwara temple in Sheffield, a bhangra dance workshop and a visit in school from a Sikh, to share his experiences of that religion.

To cover the cost of the trips, the workshop and the visit we are asking for a contribution of £6.70. It covers transport and visit to the temple, the dance instructor’s fees for the workshop and the school visit. The week we are hoping will be a wonderful experience for all the children offering them a unique opportunity to discover all about Sihkism.

The dates for your child’s trip to the Temple are as follows.

Monday 10th October Y1M & Y1C

Tuesday 11th October Y1/2S & Y2HS

Wednesday 12th October Y2V

The visit in school for all children will be on Thursday 13th October anddance workshop will be Friday 14th October for all children.

All trips will depart school for 9am and will return by 12pm, children will be back in school to have dinner as usually would happen, they will be having a snack and drink provided by the Gurdawara Temple during the visit. Part of the Sikh custom requires them to wear something to cover the top of their head to enter the building. Therefore we are asking each child to bring a hat of any variety, a baseball cap or a sun hat for example, so they can enjoy the tour of the temple.

Please feel free to get in touch with any questions or queries you may have about any of our activities.

Many thanks

Helen Vickers
