SUMMARY
The primary purpose of the Admissions Assistant is to provide administrative support for admissions team including but not limited to: answering phones, preparing mailings and email correspondence, and managing admissions processes for inquiries and applications and assisting with recruitment events.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
This position is responsible for maintaining students files and data management of new and returning student inquiries and graduate applications. The Admissions Assistant will work with the Office Manager and the Assistant Director of Admissions to communicate with these populations through emailand phone. Additional duties include, but are not limited to, answering incoming phone calls, providing office coverage during prescribed hours of operation and participating in the various activities essential to the operation of the admissions office as a whole.
The Admissions Assistant will be responsible for the accurate entry of student information into the Jenzabar system and the management of student files for the graduate programs. This position will be required to have knowledge of all aspects of the graduate and undergraduate processes and pertinent dates.
As a member of the admissions team, the Admissions Assistant will often be asked to participate in general student services activities and recruitment events.Some evening and weekend work should be expected during the various recruitment cycles as well as open houses where attendance is required of all admissions office members. While each member has their own area of operation, they will be required to be capable, and develop competency in any areas where responsibilities overlap. The Assistant’s flexibility, capability and commitment to this requirement will be a part of the evaluation process.
QUALIFICATIONS
- One or more years of general office or customer service experience.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
- Able to work independently
- Must be able to properly maintain confidential information
- Must have a customer service focus and positive disposition
- Must have valid drivers license and reliable transportation
- Some evening and weekend work will be required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires sitting occasionally for extended periods of time, and repetitive motions for operating computer mouse and keyboard. Hearing and effectively communicating on the telephone. Ability to lift, pull, bend, grasp, occasionally lift up to 20 lbs., reach top of four-drawer file cabinet. Visual demands: Computer monitor and reading.

EDUCATION
High school diploma or GED required.
