3-A JUNIOR BEEF HEIFER SHOW

The purpose of the Junior Beef Heifer Show is to provide youth an opportunity to exhibit their heifers in a local show. The following rules and regulations will be followed and conform to the rules for the Junior Beef Heifer Show at the North Carolina State Fair. Many of these heifers will be exhibited at the North Carolina State Fair.

RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR JUNIOR BEEF HEIFER SHOW

  1. Open to youth exhibitors 9-19 (as of January 1, 2015) and North Carolina residents. No Cloverbuds (ages 5-8) may participate in the Junior Beef Heifer Show.
  2. Each exhibitor is limited to two (2) animals total (eg: 2 heifers or 2 steer or one steer and one heifer).
  3. Exhibitors must have trained and fitted the animals from August 15, 2014. Ownership by exhibitors is not required. However, in cases where exhibitors do not own the animal, a certificate of training and fitting from the owner is required at entry time.
  4. If an exhibitor has more than one entry per class, another junior exhibitor must show the additional animals. Adults are not eligible to show.
  5. Heifers must be halter broken.
  6. All breeds will be shown in one class.
  7. Classes will be divided based on age of heifer and will be announced on the day of the show.
  8. Heifers will be shown Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 7:00 p.m.

  10. A Grand Champion and Reserve Champion heifer will be picked from the class winner.
  11. Check-in: 3:00pm-6:00pm.
  12. If needed, Exhibitors should call Barn Manager, David Thomas, (919-776-7046) to reserve space for their cattle.
  13. All rules subject to change per show officials discretion. All decisions will be final.

Class 1: Calved after January 1, 2015.

Class 2: Calved between November 1-December 31, 2014

Class 3: Calved between September 1-October31, 2014

Class 4: Calved between July 1-August 31, 2014

Class 5: Calved between May 1-June 30, 2014

Class 6: Calved between March 1-April 30, 2014

Class 7: Calved between January 1-February 28, 2014

Class8: Calved between September 1-December 31, 2013

RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR JUNIOR BEEF STEER SHOW

  1. Open to youth exhibitors 9-19 (as of January 1, 2015) and North Carolina residents. No Cloverbuds (ages 5-8) may participate in the Junior Beef Steer Show.
  2. Each exhibitor is limited to two (2) animals total (eg: 2 heifers or 2 steer or one steer and one heifer).
  3. Exhibitors must have trained and fitted the steers from August 1, 2015.
  4. Steers must weigh at least 800 pounds and can have two permanent teeth. All other teeth must be baby teeth and in place.
  5. Steers must be halter broke and dehorned. Unruly animals, which may endanger the safety of the exhibitors, will be asked to leave the ring.
  6. Each exhibitor is limited to two entries. If animals are in the same class, another junior must show his animal.
  7. Registration for JUNIOR BEEF STEER show is no later than 5:00pm on Wednesday, August 26, 2015. Send your entry form to: North Carolina Cooperative Extension, Lee County Center, 2420 Tramway Road, Sanford, NC 27332 or fax to 919-775-1302. Call (919) 775-5624 for more information or questions.
  8. Classes will be divided by steer weights (light, middle and heavy). A Grand and Reserve Champion will be selected from the class winners and will be auctioned at the end of the cattle show.
  9. Check-in: 3:00pm-6:00pm.
  10. Steers will be shown Thursday, September 17, 2015 immediately following the heifer show.
  11. If needed, Exhibitors should call barn manager, David Thomas, (919-776-7046) to reserve space for their cattle.
  12. All rules subject to change per show officials discretion. All decisions will be final.

3-C BEEF CATTLE SHOWMANSHIP

Open to youth exhibitors 9-19 (as of January 1, 2015) and North Carolina residents. No Cloverbuds (ages 5-8) may participate in the Beef Cattle Showmanship. Each exhibitor is eligible to enter only one animal in this class and must register. 2015 Lee Regional Fair Meat Goat Show

RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR MEAT GOAT SHOW

  1. Open to youth between the ages of five (5) and eighteen (18), and NC residents.
  2. Exhibitors limited to two (2) animals per type (eg: 2 wethers and 2 does) and one entry per class.
  3. An official health certificate signed by an accredited veterinarian or approved state or federally employed veterinarian must accompany animals.
  4. All goats must meet NCDA Scrapies regulations. Those animals that do not will be asked to leave the fairgrounds!
  5. All participants are automatically entered in their respective showmanship classes.
  6. Goats will be shown Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at 7:00pm. Wether weigh-in & doe check-in from 3:00pm-6:00pm.
  7. Market goat classes (wethers) will be divided by weight as evenly as possible.
  8. Classes arranged at the discretion of the show officials.
  9. Classes divided into the weight classes an hour before the show for market goats.

Note: Each exhibitor will only collect $5 one time if they do not place 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. Exhibitors who place 1st, 2nd, or 3rd are not eligible for the $5 participation prize.
