Procedure
10 minutes / Show questions on “Presenter” section and have students read the questions and translate them orally. They need to take notes down in order to prepare their oral presentation. Walk around the classroom and help with vocabulary.
20 minutes / Ask the questions to the whole class. Involve all students and tell them to take notes as they listen to their classmates’ answers; they need to highlight those answers that were both very similar and very different from their own.
15 minutes / Activity “Classmates” section: ask students to share their reflections on the answers they heard. Were there similar tastes and/or memories and/or thoughts? Which answers impressed them the most? Do they have further questions for their classmates about a specific topic?
10 minutes / Listening/Speaking: before watching the videoclips from RAI Educational, elicit answers on “telling lies” (questions anticipating the video topic).
10 minutes / Show videoclips “Lie to me” (Italian trailer) and “TV Talk”. Class discussion with the questions about the TV show.
Homework/Assessment / Tell students to watch the videoclip from “Il Quotidiano in Classe”. The topic is suggested by Beppe Severgnini. Tell students to do a brief research on Severgnini. Then, they need to answer the questions that follow. The answers will be discussed next class, for about 30 minutes. Students need to be ready to give their contribution to the class discussion.
