The module included visits to the Jaguar factory in Castle Bromwich and the Liz Earle warehouse and e-fulfilment centre on the Isle of Wight. There was also an opportunity to attend the CILT student conference in London.
The 2nd assignment included some quantitative analysis of supply chain throughput and inventory data, requiring students to estimate and evaluate a company’s Stock Turnover Ratio. Whilst challenging, this provided a good opportunity to enhance the achievement of course learning objectives, and also allowing some cross-module integration with FAM03 Accounting for Managers.
Due to the timing of Easter, Term 2 was longer than normal, and we were able to include two new sessions on disruptive supply chain technologies, e.g. driverless technology, low cost robotics and the increasing provision of software as a service (SAS) supply chain solutions.
Marking and Moderation
Assignment 1 – Peter McCullen and Patrick Ballin attended and jointly marked the student presentations.
Assignment 2 – Peter McCullen was first marker, and Gary Priddis moderated.
Trend Data
Results are inline with the previous year. The cohort was much smaller, and there are currently 2 non-submissions.
Attendance
5/9 students had nearly 100% attendance. Two students from London were particarly affected by the problems on Southern Rail.

“As noted in previous years, programme design supports active student learning, for example field visits (OPM49, OPM57 and OPM58) and participation in a one-day Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) research conference (OPM49).”
