JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title:Co-ordinator
Responsible to:Govanhill Youth Project Management Committee
Hours:25 per week (minimum of two evenings per week)
Salary:£24,681 (Pro Rata - £17,629 – 25 Hours)

PROJECT CO-ORDINATOR WILL:
Offer effective supervision and support to all staff enabling them to work as a cohesive team.
Work with management committee to recruit staff as required to ensure the effective delivery of the project.
Conduct ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the project using such methods as recordings, preparing reports and attend meetings where appropriate. Project co-ordinator will also liaise with city council departments to ensure required monitoring and reporting is completed timeously and effectively.
Review the policies and procedures of the project to ensure they meet the continued needs of the project.
Research potential new funding streams and apply for further funding including grants and trusts to ensure the delivery of basic services and to help the project grow and develop.
Promote and develop collaborative/partnership work with relevant external organisations and agencies.
Assist local young people to identify issues affecting young people and devise strategies in conjunction with young people to address those issues.
Report effectively to the project Management Committee providing written reports and evaluation on the process of the project as requested by the Management Committee.
Undertake any other duties as directed by the Management Committee.

Category / Essential Criteria / Desirable CriteriaExperience / Minimum of 2 years prior experience of working in a similar role without direct supervision whilst managing a small team of staff.
Prior background experience and understanding of youth and family issues which contribute to social exclusion.
Must have prior experience of measuring and reporting on key performance indicators for services.
Prior experience of service development in relation to youth services. / A wide appreciation of the role undertaken by statutory and non- statutory agencies in tackling social exclusion.
Prior experience of strategic or service planning advantageous.
Skills and Abilities / Must be a good communicator, with both verbal and written communications skills of a consistently high standard.
Must be able to demonstrate the ability to work effectively in promoting team working and cohesion.
Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Must be methodical and organised in approach to work.
Qualifications and knowledge / Able to demonstrate a high standard of literacy and numeracy skills.
Must be able to demonstrate an in depth knowledge of current social and economic issues as well as their impact on local communities.
Knowledge of child protection issues.
Awareness of youth work curriculum and group work approaches to learning
Must be willing to enhance own knowledge and undertake further training as necessary. / Possession of a relevant qualification for example Community Development, Sociology, Social Policy.
Personal Qualities / Must be able to maintain an objective and professional perspective at all times.
Must be able to effectively manage workload including that of others.
Must be able to produce work of a consistently high standard.
Must be flexible in approach to work.
Must be able to recognise personal/professional boundaries at all times.
Must be able to cope with and support service change.
Must be able to demonstrate leadership qualities.
Other Requirements / Must be IT Literate, skilled in the use of Microsoft Office.
Post may require some minimal out of hours working and limited travel from time to time.
