Rogers High School

National Honor Society Application

National Honor Society is an honorary organization. Outstanding students across the nation are selected for entry. The objectives of NHS are to encourage development of character, to promote worthy leadership, to provide service to your school and community, and to create an enthusiasm for scholarship. It is a great privilege to be selected to the Rogers High School Chapter of the National Honor Society.

To be eligible for candidacy to NHS, you must have an accumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher. Our records indicate that you meet this standard. Leadership, service, and character are additional qualities expected from each applicant. If you are inducted into NHS you have demonstrated outstanding achievement in these areas. But even more importantly it means that you will continue to show these traits throughout your high school career and beyond. This includes maintaining a minimum 3.50 GPA, performing numerous service projects and standing up as a leader of strong character in the school. Being a member of NHS is more than an honor. It is a challenge. It is a commitment to your school, your community, and to yourself.

Below you will find directions for filling out the application. We encourage you to submit your packet for consideration of membership to the RHS National Honor Society.

Directions: Please complete all sections. Do not be modest. Every bit of information can be used by the faculty council to assist with the selection process. Completion of this form does not guarantee selection. Please type or print.(Application is available online on the Rogers High School homepage.)

Scoring: The faculty council scores these forms generally based on calculating 5 points for the first year of an activity with one additional point for each subsequent year. Only 25 points can be scored in each of the four areas. For work experience, each subsequent year can be valued at 5 instead of one point. It is critical that you include information such as how many hours per week you worked in these activities. We will not give points for duplicated activities, illegible entries, or areas left blank.

Eligibility and Evaluation: After turning in your application, your name will be published to the faculty at RHS and Heritage High School for evaluation. It is assumed that you are already listed on the NHS eligible list in the office. If you are not, your application will be rejected automatically. You must also have been a Rogers High School student for at least one semester in the year prior to applying. Any student who was suspended out of school will not be accepted into the club. Any student who has an ISS assignment will have to submit an explanation of the event to the faculty council before being accepted into the club. You must attach that explanation to your application.
