GRANT MATERIALS (required)

Application materials should be submitted in a single PDF document in the order listed below.

A. Application Form includes payline verification, completed signatures, and budget.

• Requests should be limited to the minimum funding necessary to maintain a defined project over a short duration and are not expected to cover maintenance of an entire lab.

• Awards may not cover budget reductions in existing awards from external sponsors, cost overruns, or travel. Funding is not available retroactively, i.e., before date of FAST TRACK application date.

• PI may request up to 10% of their salary effort and corresponding fringe benefits within the NIH cap to be covered by department match.

• Award months will be calculated to bridge between the date of FAST TRACK application and anticipated new award date. Funds will not overlap with federal funding or no cost extension funding.

B.  Budget Justification
A narrative should explain and itemize the cost of the proposed activity and the basis for cost estimates. Costs should cover 1) activities to prepare resubmission, and/or 2) minimal lab/project maintenance until award.
If salaries are included, please itemize the salary and fringe benefits for each person; indicate how critical this funding is to maintain support of staff research position(s).

C.  Summary Statement from the recent Study Section review, including score and percentile.

D.  Introduction to Resubmission (one page)
Draft of what will be submitted with A1 including any new publications since last submission.

E.  Other support pages (NIH style) listing all current and pending research support to the PI’s laboratory. Also list current access to discretionary funds, start-up funds, and support from internal resources.
