World Suicide Prevention Day Press Conference Review / Despite competing with 9/11 memorial coverage, the press conference was very well received, most of the chairs were full. There was coverage in radio, newspapers and blogs and filming done by CTN. The flowers were very moving.
There has been an increase in material requests, the video is being viewed online and the National Guard has invited us to their “Stand Down” event.
State Senator McLaughlin and Ritter showed an interest in our efforts. The Governor’s office is open to legislation we would like to enact. Interest was also expressed by the Committee on Aging. / Andrea will follow up with people who expressed interests in the CTSAB at the press conference.
Faith said she would follow up with the Committee on Aging to have representation on the board.
Campaign Materials / There has been an increase in material requests since the website was launched and packets were mailed to colleges.
There is a large banner that can be requested to be displayed across the state. Can be placed in stadiums and along fences.
The materials will soon be translated into Spanish. Tim is looking into a printing for a billboard with space donated by CBS billboards. Tim is looking to professionalizing the videos. People would like to remove the 3-man logo and the jumping people from the longer video and the coloring to be fixed.
Video was featured in a national webinar. Concerns were expressed about the ladder in the longer video. / Tim will work to professionalize the video and print for a billboard.
A system needs to be developed for people to borrow the large banner.
Website Launch / The website was launched in preparation for the webinar. Committee members expressed the following concerns:
-  The difference between member of CTSAB and Suicide Prevention Network of Care
-  About Us- links to each organization, not necessarily directed to suicide prevention information.
-  Links for more resources
-  Training links to DCF and Connecticut Clearinghouse
-  Moving Crisis Resources above CT Resources
-  What is a Materials Tool-Kit
-  Include quantities of materials requested.
-  List training descriptions, audience and cost / Tim will work to update the website with the committees suggestions.
State Suicide Prevention Plan / The National Strategy on Suicide Prevention was released. It’s time to review the Connecticut plan. / Andrea will email the group to develop a subcommittee to review the plan.
QPR Training / A QPR training was conducted by Jonathan Pohl for the group. / The slides from the presentation will be sent to the listserv.
