SAC Meeting Minutes – June 16, 2014

Principal’s Report

School Supplies – For Grade Primary to Grade 2: $40 will be collected from students for school supplies.

For Grade 3 to Grade 6: Lists of school supplies will be given to students and the School Supplies Lists will be available online as well.

We Day – It is a concert that takes place at the Metro Centre. Only 15 students can go from Grade 6.

Students will be chosen based on charity work and the letter they write about why they want to attend.

The students will be chosen in September 2014.

Breakfast Program – When the Breakfast Program was set up it met the needs at the time. The Breakfast

Program will be changing for next year. The Breakfast Program will no longer be at the Masonic Hall.

Any equipment that had been purchased through the existing program that is at the Masonic Hall will come to the school. The School staff will be coming up with how the school will provide for the students at the school.

Staffing –

Amy Weedon has accepted the Vice Principal position at Atlantic Memorial-Terrance Bay Elementary. Gail Sampson is going to Grosvenor-Wentworth Park Elementary.

Jill Turner will be off when her baby arrives.

Jennifer Cleveland, Natalie Gouthro, LeeAnn Brownell are term teachers so they will be applying for positions.

Laurianne Falkwin will continue her parental leave.

Sonia D’Angelo-Vibert will be teaching in Egypt next year.

James MacAskill will be returning to his EPA position at Harbourview.

Dawn Howell is retiring.

Allison Bolton – new teaching Visual Arts.

Several Job Sharing positions: For Teachers - Tricia Morine and Linde Doucet Grade 1; Lorna Durdle and Kelly Fiendel Grade 2; Darlene Levangie and Lori Boudreau Grade 3; Janice LeBlanc and Katie MacDonald Grade 4. For Office Secretaries – Michelle McElroy and Beatrice Smith

Carrie McBay has accepted the Vice Principal position at St. Joseph’s-Alexander McKay School.

Terro Barro is the Vice Principal.

Class configurations – For next year HRSB has placed caps of 20 students for Grade Primary-Grade 2 classes. For Grade 3 the cap for next year is 25. No caps from Grade 4-6. Some classes are already over capacity.

Next meeting will be Monday, September 15, 2014 at 5:30pm.
