1.Call to Order and Pledge of Allegiance Mayor Campbell called the meeting to order at 5:30p.m. Members present: Paul Weber, Brad Gunderson, Jared Gapinski, and Dave Saunders. Others present: Ross Olson, City Administrator,Todd Schultz, Community Development Director, Perry Beise, Police Chief, Jack Kahlhamer, Finance Director, and Dana Furman, Administrative Services Coordinator.

2. Work session

Ross Olson advised the Council that the City Hall/Government Center Subcommittee has been meeting with the Architect. Olson said that the concept has been refined, and the result of all that labor is a design concept that the Subcommittee is ready for input from the Council on. Olson stated that staff is not asking for final approval tonight but staff would like the Council to concur that they are ready for the next step, which includes talking to Information Technology (IT) people, etc.

Murray Mack of Hagemeister Mack presented the work in progress in terms of the new City Hall/Government Center.

Mayor Campbell questioned what the new building’s storage area would be in comparison to the previous City Hall. He also questioned how people utilizing the Community Room could gain access to the storm shelter areas. Mack agreed to get back to the Council regarding the storm shelter area.

Preston Euerle, RA Morton Construction Managers, shared the estimated construction costs with the Council. He said that the estimated construction cost is approximately $4million while the total estimated project cost is $6.3million.

Mayor Campbell asked that the design and construction team come back prior to the next City Council meeting. He asked that a work session occur on March 28th at 5:15pm or earlier if staff can arrange for an earlier meeting.

Mack stated that in order to stay within the timeframe then he would like the City to keep moving forward if possible.

Mayor Campbell stated that he understands the timeline in regards to the project, but he did not like the idea of the non-Committee members of the Council feeling rushed or that they did not have time to properly evaluate and ask questions before giving the okay for things to continue to the next phase.

Mayor Campbell adjourned the meeting at 6:05pm.
