Job Summary Briefly (up to 50 words) describe the position’s purpose. Why does this job exist?To provide human resource leadership to all aspects of mic, ensuring best practices and legal compliance in all areas of operation. To Provide coaching and counsel to managers on supervising and managing and effectively handling employee relations issues. Provide administrative services in managing regulatory reporting, benefits management and employee communications.

Principal Responsibilities

Establish, communicate and implement sound HR policies and procedures; develop/update policy and procedures guide for managers. / 10 / x
Design a process for developing position descriptions for all MIC positions; review position descriptions annually, providing revisions as necessary. / 5 / x
Manage the job posting, interviewing and hiring process through entering new employees into MIC systems; provide on-boarding/orientation information to new employees. / 10 / x
Develop, communicate and implement a Performance Management process, to include management training, employee communication and documentation procedures. / 10 / x
Prepare and file annual regulatory reports/submissions i.e. EEO-1; 5500s; OSHA 300; TIAA-CREF; BCBS etc. / 15 / x
Counsel and coach management on handling employee relations issues / 10 / x
Manage the annual benefits re-enrollment process for all benefits plans. / 10 / x
Prepare and send annual faculty and staff contracts, stipend letters; track and file signed contracts. Ongoing throughout the year, send faculty contracts and new hire packages. / 15 / x
Implement and manage visa and permanent residency process for approved employee/aliens. This may include filing petitions; responding to audits; complying with INS regulations; tracking and following up. / 10 / X
Maintain employee personnel files to ensure compliance with standard record retention requirements / 3 / x

The qualifications listed below must support the essential functions and serve as the primary criteria for selecting candidates.

Qualifications: (Education, experience, and any other certifications or clearances)

1.  Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Management or related field
2.  5-7 years experience in HR management
3.  Experience working in an academic or non-profit organization preferred

Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)

1. Knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws and regulations
2.  Ability to access and retrieve data using standard computer programs such as Explorer, Outlook, Word, Excel, Access
3.  Ability to communicate effectively and get along well with individuals in all levels of the organization
4.  Excellent communications skills both verbal and written
5.  Good organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
6.  Ability to self-direct…see what needs to be done and do it
7.  Ability to travel from main office to campuses as needed
