Topic and Content:

The topic of this project is SHOPPING. Each group should create a video file which contains one or more scenarios about shopping (e.g. gift shopping and clothing shopping) and establish conversations based on these scenarios. If there is one scenario in your video, this scenario should present a complete story. If there is more than one scenario in your video, these scenarios should be well organized and connected logically. And all of these scenarios should present a complete story.

The expressions and structures about shopping which we have learned should be used in your conversations. Please use Chapter 7 and 8 as your references. The following information should be presented by your dialogues (you can add more)

1) the place where you are shopping

2) how do you go to the store

3) why you want to buy these things

4) the role of different speakers

5) the price of things which you will buy

6) the size, color, amount and brand of things which you will buy

7) bargaining

Each member of a group should participate in dialogues. Namely, each student should have some utterances in dialogues.

Size of group:

Each group can have 2 to 3 students.

Format of project:

Your dialogues should be recorded by a camcorder. You should make all of your dialogues as one file.

Duration of video:

1 to 1.5 minutes.

Scripts of dialogues:

You should submit the scripts of dialogues with your video files. The scripts should be written in Chinese characters. And please use the following format to write your scripts:

Scenario A:

John (the name of speaker): 欢迎光临!

Peter: 你好,我要买一件衬衫。

……

YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO READ YOUR SCRIPTS IN YOUR VIDEOS.

Set Designing and Stage Property

You should have set designing for your video and use real things as your stage property. For example, if your dialogues are about clothing shopping, you should design a set which looks like a store or you can record your dialogues in a real store. And you should use real clothing and money as your stage property in your performance.

Grading Policy:

Written Scripts: 30%

Video: 70%

1) Integrity: 10%

2) Actors and actresses’utterances and performance: 40% ( grammar, the complexity of sentences, pronunciation and fluency )

3) Set designing and stage property: 10%

4) Creativity and dramatic plot: 10%

Due date of project:

Please submit your video file and written scripts on April 19,2016. Any delay will affect your grades automatically.
