Categories and Criteria

All staff awards can be repeated after two years and faculty awards after three years

Graduate student awards cannot be repeated unless an MS student winner subsequently enters the PhD program. Undergraduate awards can be repeated as students advance in class years.

WFSC solicits award nominations in the following categories for academic year 2016 – 2017.

Rubio Outstanding Staff Award: There will be one award per year. This is a particularly prestigious award for exceptional staff service. All salaried clerical staff are eligible. To nominate an individual send a nomination letter, two pages maximum, to Dawn Miles.

Outstanding Extension Support Staff Award: There will be on award per year. To nominate an individual send a nomination letter, two pages maximum, to Dawn Miles.

Outstanding Technical or Research Support Staff Award: There will be on award per year. Eligible individuals include all TAMU technical/research staff and current WFSC postdoctoral fellows. To nominate an individual send a nomination letter, two pages maximum, to Dawn Miles.

Faculty Awards: These nominations must come from students. Faculty cannot nominate other faculty. There will be two awards offered through the department. Winning faculty can be nominated again after 3 years.

Outstanding Undergraduate Teacher: The nomination must come from the undergraduate students. A nomination can come from either an individual or a team; team awards will be given higher consideration. The student(s) must submit a 2 page letter of nomination with their justification for the qualities of the instructor that merit the award.

Outstanding Graduate Teacher: The nomination must come from the graduate students. A nomination can come from either an individual or a team; team awards will be given higher consideration. The student(s) must submit a 2 page letter of nomination with their justification for the qualities of the instructor that merit the award.

Student Awards: Awards will be given in six categories: Outstanding Ph.D. student, Outstanding M.S. student, and Outstanding Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior Undergraduate Students. Nominations for Ph.D. and M.S. students should come from faculty, again in a 2-page nomination letter. Nominations for the undergraduate awards can come from advising staff, faculty or graduate students, or a combination of those. A resume including the current GPA should be included in the nomination for all student awards.

Deadline: Deadline for nominations is COB Wednesday March 20, 2017. The award winners will be announced by March 31st and award presentations will be held on Saturday, April 8th. Time and location will be sent out at a later date.
