PRESS RELEASE

Here are theWeeklyTop-10 Rankings for all four Tiers of 12 man high school football in Alberta and the 6-man rankings as well for the 2014 season. These rankings will come out every Saturday night (except for Labor Day kickoff)from now up until November1.

The teams are slotted into Tiers based on their estimated school size, which may change once official counts are known at the end of September. Please note that games vs. US opponents, or tournaments are not taken into consideration for ranking or listed in the overall record of the schools due to too many variables and inconsistent rules for those games.

GAME(S)OF THE WEEK:

Tier I

#7 Harry Ainlay Titans vs. #4 Salisbury Sabres

Thursday, September 4, 5:00 p.m., Strathcona Athletic Park, Sherwood Park

One of the greatest rivalries in the history of Edmonton High School Football is renewed in the first game out of the gate this Thursday for the Metro Edmonton League. In the 1980’s these two programs played some of the most exciting regular season and championship games and with the split in leagues preventing the continuation of that from 1988-2012 it’s time to get back to the fun! Both teams feature monster defenses so with the early season advantage always going to the defense it will be interesting to see which offense can push across enough points to win. Should be fun in Sherwood Park this Thursday.
