Staff training in key areasto support Pastoral intervention and support for vulnerable pupils across all sites / £600 / Yes – different training required due to pupil cohorts / Specific external training on safeguarding offered at the start of the academic year so all staff have Level 1 certification / All staff trained to Level 1 in safeguarding in order to fully understand the role all staff play in safeguarding children / All staff have gained certificates following training. Staff attend weekly safeguarding meetings which ensures all staff are up to date and providing appropriate support for vulnerable learners.
Live boards updated daily in each centre has supported all safeguarding needs and the safeguarding audit by the LA was extremely positive.
Transport support for PP pupils / £400 / Yes – required in order to meet pupil need and show impact on attendance / Bus passes provided for PP students as required / Improve attendance / Attendance improved by 2.5% on the previous year and overall attendance sat at 10% above NA.
Building Aspirations for FE/ employment and developing personal qualities through work-related learning e.g. Mploy / £1000 / No – Used previously and successful re individual pupils / Post 16 evening October 2016 with post 16 provisions represented
Attendance at relevant work experience provisions / Pupils attend work experience and progress to post 16 provision, maintaining EET / Work placements were not something we valued within the plan due to concerns over what we deemed to be quality placements and risk assessing pupils off site. However all leavers received a
September guarantee.
Half termly reward visits - subsidised for PP pupils
Leavers Prom subsidised to recognise achievement. / £1000 / No- Continued funding required in order to ensure incentives continue to promote learning and behaviour modification / All relevant staff to attend throughout the year / Raising of self -esteem and self- worth through reward systems, recognition of achievement etc / Disadvantaged pupils accessed reward visits as part of their personalised plans and a successful leaver’s prom took place for Y11 Cedars students.
Develop PP pupils through music and arts / £600 / No – Previous work done alongside accent arts hub to develop pupils through the arts / Accent arts hub coordinating support alongside heads of centre and staff training in the “Draw it” programme / Improved confidence and self-worth from identified pupils through engagement in a music therapy/arts therapy package / Support around the “Draw it” programme has been positive with individual PP students accessing appropriate support from trained staff.
Introduction of Duke of Edinburgh award at KS4 Redwood (Longbarn site) / £5000 / Yes – New curriculum offer to support students through a versatile D of E bronze award / Staff trained on D of E – resources purchased for expeditions/mini bus rental for external visits etc / Accreditation – D of E Bronze award. Students gain confidence and life skills through a range of activities to support extended learning / D of E has been extremely successful with KS4 PP pupils gaining bronze awards and taking part in a variety of volunteering projects.

1-1 Tuition/support for students requiring individual learning packages to reengage with education and ensure accreditation is obtained by all students / £14,000 / Yes – A number of students require specific 1-1 work to reengage them and ensure progress in core subjects and behaviour development. / Appropriate key worker staff linked to individual pupils. Plans in place as appropriate. / Pupils make progress as evidenced through the progress matrix in the areas of emotional health/wellbeing/behaviour/attendance and academic progress / Whole school progress and attainment data sits significantly above NA with little gap at PP.
Support KS3 students to attend a residential trip / £850 / Yes – KS3 pupils will be offered a trip subsidised for PP students to develop independent skills, build resilience and develop social skills / KS3 staff. Trip to take place at Delemere in May 17. / Providing a positive group experience building resilience and developing personal, learning and thinking skills alongside problem solving / KS3 PP students were funded in the trip and while a decision was made through risk assessments to do 2 day trips rather than an overnight stay, the experience was received positively.
Revised competency curriculum to support Personal, Learning and Thinking skills – specifically focussed on metacognition / £1600 / Yes – New curriculum developed to develop metacognition of pupils which is evidenced as a high impact, low cost initiative through the Sutton Trust / Primary and KS3 team to initially implement. In place by summer term 2017 / Develop pupils skills at learning how to learn successfully and transfer these skills to their home schools to support successful reintegration / Pupils in KS3 have a better understanding of how they learn and why they respond as they do. Work scrutiny shows some excellent examples of pupil progress.
Purchase of appropriate clothing/uniform/shoes to support students with smart (warm) dress. / £300 / Yes – Ensure sense of belonging within the school community and all students dressed appropriately / SRW to oversee with pastoral team as and when required / All students will be in appropriate uniform and be clothed appropriately for the seasons providing a sense of school belonging and support behaviour improvement in line with the school’s standards protocol. / Pupils have a sense of belonging through uniform which ensures the positive culture within the school for everyone.
Termly attendance vouchers for the most improved attendance / £400 / Yes – further ensure attendance improves and remains significantly above NA / JA to oversee attendance strategy / All students will improve attendance. Reduce number of PA, PP students / PP attendance increased
Development of a trauma informed learning environment to support trauma/attachment disorder pupils / £2000 / Yes – Use of research to develop and appropriate learning environment / CH to complete research on trauma informed schools, complete paper to support changes and purchase appropriate resources (e.g. rock chairs, balance stools, weighted blankets, sensory items for mindfulness) / Students with specific trauma backgrounds (specifically PP/CIC) to make progress in all appropriate areas. / The research document was well received and supported specific PP students within the primary curriculum. Impact evidence can be seen through learning journals and stakeholder voice
Literacy and Numeracy Intervention package resources for KS3 / £300 / Yes – Specific resources to identify and address gaps in basic skills for KS3 PP students / KS3 staff, SENCo, Termly intervention groups / Pupils with gaps in basic skills will plug them through targeted intervention, accelerating progress / Assessment tracking identifies where gaps in learning have been plugged alongside the data dashboard
Year 11 revision guides / £200 / Yes – revision guides purchased to support Y11 PP pupils with GCSE’s / Heads of centre, subject teachers. All guides required purchased by May 17 / PP students will have access to appropriate revision guides to support their Y11 outcomes / PP pupils performed broadly in line with their peers.
After school Extra- curricular offer / £250 / Yes – School to offer a range of extra- curricular sport and learning clubs to enhance development / Extra- curricular offer coordinated termly by SRW and Heads of centre / Students offered range of clubs termly after school to enhance learning and team-worker skills (examples to include: boxing, table tennis, card games, genealogy, science, craft, rugby, sign language) / Clubs were well attended by the primary PP cohort and the Cedars PP cohort.

NB: Additional funding for CIC will be received through children’s PEPs and funding will be spent on an individual basis to meet PEP Targets. This can be seen through the school’s Pupil Premium Matrix.
