2004 SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

Zeta Rho Chapter, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and Zeta Rho Foundation is pleased to announce that it will be awarding scholarships in the amount of $1,000 to graduating high school seniors, who meet the eligibility standards and qualifying criteria.

Scholarship Awards

Scholarships of $1,000 each will be awarded to graduating seniors of Los Angeles area high schools. These awards will be presented, and the awardees honored, on June 19, 2004, at their Annual Omega Salute and Scholarship Affair.

Who Is Eligible?

Applicant must be a black male, a high school senior, who will graduate by June 2004, who has qualified for college enrollment beginning September 2004.

Qualifying Criteria

- Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.7 or above

- Applicants must enroll in a college or university during the fall semester or quarter of 2004.

- Applicants must have been involved in community service or activity.

- Applicants must have demonstrated leadership abilities within his school and community

- All applications must be postmarked by April 5, 2004.

2004 SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

SUBMISSION FORMAT

The following information must be submitted by the application deadline.

1. The Scholarship Application Form, which must be signed by the school’s College Advisor or College Counselor.

2. A type written composition (double spaced, not to exceed two (2) pages) that includes the following information:

(a) Applicant’s leadership role(s) and responsibilities at school and in the community.

(b) Explanation of what effect or importance a college education will have on the

applicant’s future.

(c) An explanation of financial need.

3. Two (2) letters of recommendation. One recommendation from a faculty member and one from a community member. Recommendations from immediate family will not be accepted.

4. An official transcript.

5. A recent photograph, portrait type, minimum 3x5, of the applicant.

GENERAL INFORMATION

- Applications that are incomplete, unacceptable format or received after the deadline,

April 5, 2004, will not be considered.

- The Zeta Rho Scholarship Committee will make selection.

- The awards will be distributed directly to the recipient upon verification of enrollment in an accredited college or university.

- Selected awardees and a parent will be the guest of Zeta Rho at its Omega

Salute/Scholarship Luncheon
