Job Title:Parent Liaison
- Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Program Manager, will develop and provide support services to guardians/families while developing and establishing relationships with the school districts in DuPage County, as well as providing education to the community.
Key Responsibilities
Public relations: Interacts with families and service providers and presents a positive image of him/herself, the division, and the agency.
Communication: Effectively uses written, verbal, and non-verbal communication to communicate resource ideas to clients, their family members, other employees and community service providers.
Continuous quality improvement:Identifies opportunities for program improvement, uses appropriate improvement tools and techniques to address potential quality issues within the division, and participates in quality improvement initiatives/activities.
Record keeping: Completes required documentation, case notes, and family contacts.
Documentation and writing: Usesappropriate terminology to complete forms and records.
Ethics and boundaries: Develops and maintains appropriate professional boundaries between self, staff, clients, and family/collaterals and identifies issues related to ethics and boundaries.
Time management: Identifies tasks to be completed in order of highest to lowest priority and behaviors that will not interfere with the ability to complete assignments.
Team orientation and cooperative working relationships: Promotes teamwork through collective effort and works cooperatively with team members. Participates in staff meetings.
Professional development: Maintains appropriate credentials and pursues internal and/or external training and development opportunities.
Performs related duties as required.
- Qualifications
Bachelor of Arts/Science Degree from an accredited college in a human services field, including, but not limited to sociology, special education, rehabilitation counseling, or psychology, a minimum of one year experience working directly with individuals having developmental disabilities.
Must be the parent or guardian of an individualwith a documented developmental disability who is receiving state funded services for the disability.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills including listening, problemsolving, writing, verbalizing, etc.
Self-initiator
Committed to enriching the lives of families and individuals.
Ability to travel locally as appropriate.
Must have a current Illinois driver’s license in good standing and current auto insurance which meets the standards as set forth by PACT policy.
